Young Peacemakers Awards 2020 ENTER NOW – DEADLINE APPROACHING! In a post-COVID-19 world sharing ideas and inspiration about how we create a more peaceful, sustainable and cooperative global community is more important than ever. This is the main aim of the Welsh Centre for International Affairs’ Young Peacemakers Awards. Because of the Coronavirus crisis, this year’s Awards have moved online! We are inviting contributions – creative and critical writing, artwork, performance, film, presentations on action for change – online, with many categories being ones children and young people can work on from home, with parental support. Please also remember that entries can include work and projects already completed in school – as long as young people are happy for this to happen! For more information, including details of the categories, an application form and terms and conditions go to our Young Peacemakers’ page on the WCIA website. Ideas for projects young people can do at home are also available here. Please encourage your pupils to enter the Awards. It’s not too late: the closing date is 30th June. An Awards ceremony will be organised for autumn 2020. Diff Diaries Project

The ‘Diff Diaries project is now live! Share Your Lockdown Story The coronavirus has rapidly changed life as we know it in Cardiff and The ‘Diff Diaries will bring children and young people together for voices to be heard, stories to be told and experiences to be understood for generations to come. The ‘Diff Diaries will provide lots of opportunities to develop creative skills! How to get involved: • Videos • Written Diaries • Collages How to Enter The project is open to children and young people aged 7-16 years old and parental consent will be required for all entries. Entries can be submitted weekly via Hwb, and children and young people will need a Hwb email in order to enter ‘Diff Diaries. If you have forgotten your Hwb email please contact your school and if you need help with this please contact: cardiffcommitment@cardiff.gov.uk To find out more information and how to submit an entry please visit: https://sites.google.com/hwbcymru.net/the-covid-19-diff-diaries/home The project will come to an end one month after all schools re-open for statutory education. These include: Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Attachment Theory - Teachers & TA's - Primary & Secondary
Half day training for teachers to support them with strategies for pupils who are experiencing attachment difficulties. We will look briefly at the main thinkers in the field of attachment theory and the reasons why attachment is so importmant in the development of children. We will then move onto identify attachment styles. Finally we will spend time going through strategies that can be used in the classroom.
